As much as I like being a smut writer, why is Halloween/October always themed "Kinktober"? Wish fandoms I was in that do writing events would lean harder on Halloween themes.
Like, the horror genre has so much to offer, why is it always just kinky stuff that is supposed to get us writing in October? And then I make these sorts of comments and I end up with nothing but piles of ABO fics for the pairing I like

I got a lot written but I wonder if I should push myself to edit my fics more critically. Wondering if the fic I wrote is a bit repetitive/formulaic as compared to my previous works...or if I've had this fic in WIP for far too long and my perception is skewed. =_= Either way, I plan not to focus on the reception when I post it. Post and hide.

There's 'Goretober' which is fairly popular and has some pretty creative prompts. Search 'Goretober prompt' and you'll get a bunch from the past couple years.

I just found out a couple days ago there's apparently a fandom-specific Saintober for Saint Seiya. Which I am not familiar enough to write anything in (except possibly some out-of-context/AU for a friend's ship, they like AUs anyway), but if it was multifandom? I could've done stuff with those prompts...

...And yeah. Post and hide is my usual way these days, and then just like... check the AO3 digest the next day, hahah. It's only fanfic so... I have been telling myself I don't need to take it so seriously. If I was getting paid for it then maybe I'd need to worry more about having an editor/beta but. I'm not.

One of my fandoms has a "Spooktober" theme with ghosts, haunted houses, and things like that as prompts. Maybe you can do something like that.

FWIW The fics that I edit more critically are the ones that get less kudos on. I definitely edit my fics so there aren't any glaring errors or plot holes, but I'm guilty of over-editing and it kinda purges the soul of my story when I do that. Plus it kills my motivation.
