I wish HOTD actually cared more about the presumed purpose of their show. I don't mind dealing with sexism from a soap opera perspective, I'm enjoying that! But there's very little comprehensive or political about it so far, and that's kinda disappointing. They're clearly trying to be somewhat thoughtful! It's rare that I get to see any type of "weird" female characters like Heleana. But then they waste Laena and Daemon! urgh!!!

b!s: I blame grrm about 40%. I don't think he understands the purpose of court or women at court unless they "do" something, and that's propagated into his fantasy realism, and so here we are.

That's because Laena's daughters are more important to the overall plot of the story they are telling than she is. They don't have time for all the backstory, so some things had to be cut.
