Bigass honkin' spoilers for the Sandman comics here:

I'm loving all the Hob/Dream fics being written since the show came out, but reading the ones by people who aren't just sticking to show canon, but aren't spoiled for the comics at all is like eating ice cream full of glass shards. Not because I'm such a purist, but because show-only stuff is so hopeful, I keep wincing when I picture the authors' reactions to ... stuff.

Not just Morpheus and Daniel. Whenever fic writers mention Morpheus grief for his "long-dead" son I'm just gritting my teeth going "ow ow fuck" because guys, Orpheus isn't dead (yet), it's so much worse than that...

Haven't even dipped my toes in show Dream/Calliope fic despite enjoying their chemistry, because so much of it is "let's grieve our dead son before getting back together." Comics Calliope knew, but show Calliope doesn't, and oh shit is seeing her find out Morpheus knew is gonna hurt like fuck.
