I feel this 'cause a lot of the time, my writing looks like a script instead of a short story because there's a bunch of dialogue and not a whole lot of action. I try to center important conversations around the characters doing something (like washing dishes) so there's a break in there somewhere (like A pausing in drying dishes in response to something surprising that B said), but it's hard.
