Re: Secrets you don't want to make...

I started playing Genshin impact after a recommendation from a friend and... I can't truly say if i like it or not.
The music? Amazing.
Controls? Ok, sometimes laggy, the perspective stuff tends to be annoying, but i have less issues in fighting than i had with the witcher.
Story? IDK bc I'm about 10h in and still bo freaking idea where this is headed. It feels bloated, needlessly complicated and blown up.
Map/Worldbuilding: I do like games where you have to unlock stuff piece by piece and cant run through in a weekend (looking at you, stray).
Characters: Theres just SO MANY. How do you keep track?! Dont tell me to watch videos in my non-playing time to understand all this.

Anyway, it's fun, so far there is no real paywall. I also have no idea what "whaling" means and I'm too afraid to google.

The thing with the plot is that the game isn't anywhere near finished and new relevant main plot stuff drops every few months so it has to be a bit convoluted to last for a bit. In general, I can't really imagine what it's like to start the game now when there already are several areas you probably can't even get to yet.
But it's safe to say that at this point, you can vaguely see what the overarching story will be about and how it's connected, but at the start, it is absolutely pretty vague.

The characters... yes there are a lot but they sooner or later show up during the plot (most of them, at least. Some never do and the game still acts like you know them which is weird) and you get used to them. As long as they don't appear, you don't really need to think about them except maybe for the archons and one or two others.

I'm on the highest Adventurer Rank and can say that there never is a paywall. It's never too difficult in a way that would make you need to spend money to level up and even if you should ever come to a point where things are tricky, you can lower the world level for things to get easier.

Whaling is basically paying a shitton of money to spend on the limited time characters to get them to full constellation as soon as they're out.
