I love Downton Abbey fic ever since a cross-over fic lead me down a Thomas Barrow rabbit-hole. I've TRIED to watch the series and ... I just could NOT get into it. Boring as all hell. The pacing is glacial, the dialogue is ham-fisted, and the acting is so stylized I could never, for a moment, forget I was watching actors and believe in the characters. How the HELL do people watch this!?
