Yes, I largely agree... depending slightly on genre, I guess. But it's interesting to think/talk about the wider ramifications in fandom areas.

Oh, it's definitely interesting! But I do think there's a tendency in fandom to think that all works should be rigorous like that, and that it's a flaw in a work if it doesn't work through its conceits in a rigorous way.
