Is it Christmas movie time already?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's always Christmas movie time, my friend. ;)

This is a pretty secret, I like the picture. Even though I don't like Christmas movies.

Agreed.

I know little about romance tropes, but why is Nebraska a popular setup? Because that place is.....empty.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not entirely empty - they have men herding cattle, riding giant rabbits.

LOL, what

Nebraska

There have been a few secrets involving Nebraska over the last month or so. My favourite one had a postcard with a particularly awesome picture on it:

There was also this one: https://imgur.com/crhfc7H

And one riffing on it, about preferring shows set in Alaska over shows set in Nebraska.

There might have been more that I didn't notice until it became a pattern.

It's not a popular setup for movies, it's a popular setup on FS

I love the cozy image you chose for your secret, OP.

FUCK YEAH NEW ENGLAND!

Sorry, Midwest. I can't bring myself to care. You've got nice open skies though.

It's funny you say that, because now that I think about the few Xmas movies I've seen that weren't, you know, Scrooge (and the others I've been aware of but not watched)....

They DO all seem to be set in New England!

(I love New England, too - my dad's family is from there.)

New England gets that fluffy snow, has older buildings, and easy access to big cities for meet cutes, sexual chemistry laden misunderstandings, and big romantic gestures in front of or in the lobby of major landmarks. You can maybe also get that in northern Ohio or northern Illinois, but that is about it.

There is nothing *remotely* romantic about Ohio.
:D

We went to visit family one year at Xmas when I was little; Tewksbury, MA. Went sledding down this huge hill with my aunts. It was amazing.
