Never scab or cross a picket line.

That's the real secret.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
that's a not!secret imho

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It sucks when you have to cross a picket line and work because you either have people depending on you or you're broke AF. Some people need to work through strikes because there's no one there to help them or save them. :(

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The people on the picket line are usually in the same boat, just they are trying to improve things and not keep them as they are.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
da

The people picketing usually at least have the support of a union, and not everybody can get union work in the first place.

Capitalism screws everyone, except the bods at the top.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Start the union. Did you think unions sprang into life magically?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT
Yes, I know that. If you work during a strike it doesn't mean you don't want things to change for the better.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-10 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Scabbing pine crossing does mean, however, that you are actively holding others back from changing things for the better strictly for you own gain. Scab.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't, though.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm curious as to why he did. Did he want to try his hand? Was he trying to save jobs? I feel like there's an actual story here. Ironically.

The writers finished work on the script right before the strike started, but it was shitty and bad. Craig and the director did a bunch of work to try to improve the script, a lot of which was probably stuff that came up during the course of shooting, and then they brought in another writer after the strike ended to try and fix things as well.

DA

Yeah, that's not exactly scabbing. Secret OP is being rather inaccurate about it!

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
NA - Thirding this.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think that's an accurate characterization of the situation.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it wrong to be a scab if the quality of your work is so bad that it makes consumers beg to have the unionized workers back?

what exactly was that writers' strike about anyway?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-09 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Residuals on streaming shows, IIRC
