Why? We're not entitled to someone's personal diaries at all, would you have said he was trying to profit off being popular if they'd been published while he was alive?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? I don't get what the problem is.

What?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-11 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe he planned on releasing them after he retired and didn't get the chance since he died pretty unexpectedly.

But, hey, while he was dealing with his terminal cancer diagnosis after a stroke, he totally should've found time in those five months to release them just so you could think he wasn't cowardly.

I do think that there should be a longer gap between someone's death and the release of their diaries. Like, 15-20 years at least.

However I'm really not sure how much of a say Rickman himself had in the whole process. And also it's a really weird thing to hold against someone anyway.

What is it that you object to? This is a weird secret because what it's saying is clear, but I still feel like the necessary information is left out.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-11 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
+1, I'm not sure what the actual objection is. Especially for someone who was given less than a year to live rather than dying of old age in their bed at 100. Maybe he didn't want to spend those last months on his memoirs!

OP

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Reading it now it seems lacking, sorry. but i meant that it's cowardly when celebrities do it when they've written about other still-alive celebrities. good or bad, you don't know how people will take what you've written and it's much harder for the people you've mentioned to give their side without some pushback and with celebrity life now i could see people trying to get mentioned celebs to comment.

if its just about you and your thoughts... whatever.

I think it makes a lot of sense to wait until you're dead, tbh.

I take it they needed his wife's permission to publish these? So did she sell them for money?

This is a very odd 'secret' - i really want to know *why* you have this opinion, OP.

OP

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
that you for making my comment-secret!

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you can comfort yourself with the idea Rickman isn't profiting from his diaries, what with being dead and all.

This is a silly secret, OP.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
This seems very prejudiced against the undead who are trying to break into publishing, nonny.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
We don't say undead, it is differently alive. And yes, it is vitalist that is.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Super weird take, especially since it's about someone who died relatively young and unexpectedly. Reading your secret you'd think this would be about some celebrity who dies and then a book comes out marketed as a saucy tell-all volume full of industry gossip that had been planned for years.

I'd like to know why you consider this 'cowardly'.

Lots of people have their personal diaries published after their deaths.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Weird secret.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-12 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I'm enjoying the shit out of his snark except the couple moments in his younger days when he's displaying a bit too machismo thoughts for my taste.
