Elden Ring's extreme recycling of bosses and enemies is what turned me off it halfway through, and I love the Soulsborne games. Yes, earlier games reused enemies too, but they rarely felt so out of place and thoughtless. So many of ER's bosses are just copy pasted or multiplied with absolutely no thought given to the size of the arena, obstacles, and in places where it makes absolutely no sense for them to be.

One of the worst cases for me was the Fallingstar Beast, which was an incredibly aggressive charger really meant to be fought in an open arena with plenty of room, being wedged into a tiny cave and expecting the player to still be able to dodge it. Any boss that did strike me as well-designed and balanced was later cheapened by the game going "here he is again, but with zero lore context and now there's two of them."

I love ER's lore, but the whole thing just made me want to play DS/Bloodborne again.

How many gods even were there, for all these people to be wearing their skin?

I was kind of amused by Godfrey’s identical ancestor Godefroy, though.

I swear some of the renamed reskinned bosses are like Pokemon evolution lines. Just change a couple letters, boom!
