I wish!

Lighter, campier Bond movies are also usually bad - anything lighter than Goldeneye, basically, there's a strong risk it's just going to completely fall apart. I have no faith in them being able to make one that doesn't completely suck.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
To you, maybe. Badness is a matter of taste. Some other people think it is the moody ones that suck instead.

nayrt

Did anyone really like Die Another Day, or Never Say Never Again?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. And frankly I could do without the continual sneering from some corners of the fandom about how "nobody" likes them. Come on down off that high horse, acting like you are too good for this nerd-shit.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Nerd shit is usually intelligent. Die Another Day is not.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
>Nerd shit is usually intelligent.

Oh sweet child of summer.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It was super cheesy but I liked Die Another Day. I don't take Bond films very seriously, though.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think Bond movies have to be serious but there's just no way for me to look at Die Another Day and think that's a good movie

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe that is a you problem, not a Die Another Day problem? Have you considered that?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That's possible.

Although, if that's the case, it's not just a me problem, it's a problem with a lot of people.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Crowds have been known to be wrong en-masse before.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure

But, I mean, I could throw the same point back at you - consider that you might be the one who's wrong here and not everyone else.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-16 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not the one sneering about how nobody likes things I don't like.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-16 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

Clearly you guys aren't just going for the five minute argument, but the full 5 hours.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-16 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll get another batch of popcorn started.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-16 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
My not very spicy opinions...

I really loved the sword fight in Die Another Day, and Toby Stephens in general. OTOH, I hated how they made Halle Berry's character revert to the Bond girl who needs to be rescued, a trope they'd been moving away from. I think I've only watched it a couple of times, whereas most Bond movies I've seen multiple times over the years. Except the last two, which were meh as hell.

Hi again, Die Another Day stan anon! Your fervor is so fascinating to me still. What a hill to die on.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, I liked Never Say Never Again. Every outfit Fatima wore was icon – the poster does not to justice to the this. Everyone was just super flirty and charming, including the villain. I was just into it all.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, Fatima Blush was awesome! I'd forgotten all about her. So TY to the secret's OP for causing me to be reminded. Googling images now, to ogle.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I do enjoy a lot of the Roger Moore Bond movies, which often have a lighter campier side - and are way better than Never Say Never Again, which was so atrociously bad it's kind of a hilarious choice for this secret.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The biggest problem with Never Say Never Again is it's just a serials-numbers-filed-off remake of Thunderball.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-15 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Forget it mate, it's not the 80s, he'd rather punch you in the face.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-16 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, could be fun.
