I *think* that genderbend is taking the character as they are then magically changing their sex at the beginning of the story and now they have to adapt; while genderflip would be "AU where they always were the opposite gender" as see how it would affect canon?

That makes sense. I’ve never encountered the term genderflip before; I’ve only ever seen it as cisswap or sexswap. And I personally use genderbend as a catch-all term for any and all kinds of gender/sex-change shenanigans.

But to answer the question: genderflip. While the magical sex-change variants can be fun, they can also be very squicky to me; it depends entirely on the character in question.
