What counts as a cozy? Where do the Miss Marple stories fit on the scale, for instance?

The Joan Hickson TV Miss Marples were wonderful. The more recent adaptations were useless.

Do you really think they’re always bad? I think some are quite good, even sometimes (*gasp!*) better than the books.

Not hate on OP for not liking the TV adaptations of course. Even when they’re good as shows, they don’t necessarily scratch the same itch as the books.

Not OP, but which do you think are better than the books? (Curious to seek some out.)

It’s definitely a matter of personal taste, but I much prefer the Father Brown TV series (the newer one with Mark Williams) to the books.

Tried to read them and could never get into it, loved the first few seasons of the show.

Luckily, it's a pretty prolific book genre.

My mom was a pretty voracious reader of them, so I used to get some for her at the library every week. Since I'd only read the occasional one, I used a website to pick out ones I thought she'd like based on the authors and activities I knew she liked. The website (https://cozy-mystery.com/) has a lot of books and authors on it if you're looking for something new.

You're welcome! Hope you find something awesome!

There's something that's always felt contradictory to me in the concept of a murder mystery being "cozy."

And it's even better when you're in a warm house in winter drinking hot cocoa, snuggled inside a warm, bulky sweater while reading the mysteries. :D

Sheep Anon, is that you...?

Nah, I got nothing of mine in the last three posts. Which is a shame, since thurs-Sat are the only days I can catch FS when it goes up. If it goes up early enough, at least. I'm kinda glad I got jack in this post, it went up too late for a Saturday post for me to take part anyway.

I think the only cozy TV series I really like is Murder She Wrote, most of the others don't quite work for me on TV

I am in love with that tea cozy. So cute!

Is anyone else on the whole internet reading the Agatha Raisin books?
