Re: Henry Cavill quits The Witcher
(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)Re: Henry Cavill quits The Witcher
(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)Netflix doesn’t care about any of that though, it’s why they’re in trouble. And instead of getting rid of the bad showrunner they’ve signed a blanket deal with her and she’s going to make many shows for them. It’s pretty clear the Netflix execs and the showrunner had no idea what they promised or the consequences of breaking that promise. And they obviously had zero clue about why the show was successful despite all of that.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)But I can already tell that logic isn't your forte when in one sentence you claim the actress is only "one of many who hate the source material" and in the next singling her out for firing so that they could have "a cast that actually liked what they were working on". Make it make sense.
Re: Henry Cavill quits The Witcher
(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)Yes, Henry Cavill is the unicorn here. But this was pitched and purchased as a unicorn show that was being made for the existing fans and was going to stay true to the source material.
I personally think the show would have been better off if it didn’t include cast members who hated the source material. That’s not illogical for what this show was supposed to be. Why cast someone who didn’t want the job? Of course in this case the answer is because they’re friends.
But she is only one part of the bigger problems with the show, which is the showrunner and the writers.
My original comment was meant only that after season 1 they should have gotten rid of the people who hate the world of the Witcher. They didn’t. Season 2 sucked. The week after they confirmed they’re done filming season 3 with no need for reshoots, the star quit the show. And he’s the only reason most of the audience watch the show.

Re: Henry Cavill quits The Witcher
(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)But out there in the world that the rest of us live in, that's not "everyone's" reaction. The fandom reaction hasn't been an echo chamber at all unless you've curated your fandom experience to only listen to people who share your opinions, and even the "everything is ruined now" camp is about 50/50 split between the Cavill fans and the ones who think Hemsworth will be fine but are opposed to any late game cast changes.
Look, you've made your agenda pretty clear at this point and we get it. Nobody is going to force you to watch the mean bad show full of mean nasty women who just don't appreciate your mediocre fantasy series as much as they should. You're going to be just fine.
