I have never been as disappointed with a movie as I was with TROS. I came out of the midnight showing absolutely stunned at how terrible it was.

I've watched it since and although I don't think it's good, it's not as bad as I first thought. I still hate certain parts of it but overall, it's just completely average. The final movie in a trilogy and a nine-movie saga really needed to be more than that though.

It looked to me like they were trying to please everyone and ended up pleasing very few.

Well they had to make two movies in one, to pick up from where TFA ended, try to piece together something from the absolute wreck that was TLJ to make it fit as part of an actual trilogy, and then tell its own story. That is a big ask, and it is all the fault of Rian Johnson for shitting the bed so badly with TLJ. Making a Star Wars movie but only for people who don't like Star Wars movies was not a smart move on his part, nor on the producers for letting him. Certainly not as a middle film of a supposed trilogy. It is a minor miracle that TRoS hangs together as well as it does, with all that stacked against it.

Nah, they should have committed to what TLJ set up. At least it did its own thing. TFA was mid and TRoS was hilariously backtracking into quicksand. Serves them right.

DA

+1

TFA was fun and a great theater experience, but the plot was a nonsensical rewrite of ANH and the editing was pretty rough. TLJ got rid of the big bad so that Episode IX couldn't be ROTJ 2.0, answered the stupid mystery box of Rey's heritage, and suggested that the galaxy was going to have to break some cycles (war, slavery, dogma, etc.).

TROS was just pure cowardice.

This though!

Do you ever get tired of being so boring and repetitive? You say the exact same drivel at every opportunity, and throw fits at people who disagree with you about TLJ just as often.
