I used to go all out for Halloween, getting dressed up and everything. I haven't worn a Halloween costume in years, much less gone anywhere. I would love to get dressed up and go somewhere again, but between having few friends and relatives who are either uber-religious or just aren't into Halloween, there's nothing for me to do but hand out candy. I suppose I could just go somewhere by myself but I have too much social anxiety to show up alone and try to chat up strangers. I drove for Uber this past weekend, picking up and dropping off people at parties and clubs and wished that could be me, even though I've never been a club/bar/house party kind of person. My mom, the Queen of Social Butterflies, got invited to three different Halloween parties and blew them all off because she "just wasn't in the mood".
