I don't know the fandom either but it made me laugh too. Though it also made me curious about the super special origin story.

Not OP (and I'm skipping a lot of details) but: He wasn't born, he was created by one man (who raised him like an object) to try and replace another man's son young who died in a horrific way. As a result he's actually very kind, but has the charisma of a yard stick and covers up the fact he has no idea how interact with people by being aloof and hissy. He also had a really tragic end to his first life.

I actually quite like his character but that's the basics. Definitely not a character everyone is going to like.

I admit I read this via fan translation so fully willing to accept that shit is wrong/missing context etc, but I can’t imagine any version of Chu Wanning thinking he’s better than anyone. His self-esteem is so low it’s practically nonexistent. Practically all the other characters are falling all over themselves to stand next to him but he doesn’t realize because he’s too busy breaking all his mirrors bemoaning the fact that he’s old and ugly and bitter and no one will ever love him. I get not liking him, all the characters in this story are varying levels of awful, but this doesn’t jive with his actual character at all imo.
