For real. As a fan of musical theater all around, Rent Heads were some of the most unpleasant people to I had to deal with in the umbrella fandom. Especially in the 90s. I don’t mean fans of Rent in general, just the toxic fringe members that the term Rent Heads covers. I don’t love the play, but it’s got some songs I find good, and I used to sing along with people in the fandom. A lot of chill people who just like the play, and were a delight to be around. But the toxic fringe was, in my anecdotal experience, the worst people I’ve come across in musical fandom, even by toxic fringe standards.

I agree. It's not all Rent fans by any means, but they seem to have an unusually vicious toxic fringe. Extreme Phantom fans I've come across online seem to be more harmlessly obsessed, or have more of a sense of humor about themselves as a community.

I agree with this. I enjoy watching Rent. I like some of the songs. But oh my god the toxic fringe are terrifying.
