I like her, and she has a sympathetic angle to her backstory. But I don’t find her character sympathetic because of it, personally. She has her breakdown at the end due to Mai and Ty-Lee finally giving her the business, but it didn’t put her in woobie territory for me. I do know she goes through some kind of development in the spin-off novels, but I haven’t read them so.

I honestly just like her because of how cool she was as a villain. She was gleefully evil and cruel for the majority of the series, and she had so much style while doing it. I’m here for that kind of villain. She was way better of a villain than Ozai imo.

Hard same. Not judging OP, though. God knows I've woobified or semi-woobified my share of canonically-undeserving male characters over the years.

Agreed. Definitely not judging OP either. Who we woobie is up to us, there’s nothing wrong with it.
