it’s almost like Cloud has trauma and assimilated what he saw as the personality of the person he was closest to in the military because that was the only way he could survive

Zack isn’t a stoic badass, though. He’s a badass, but not stoic.

Nobody is debating whether Cloud is traumatized, also. Just that there’s a disparity between the Cloud in the original vs. the various works that feature him. Not all of which are even canonical to the game, and some which flanderizing certain traits at the expense of others that are almost left out completely. I don’t agree with people who judge Cloud for how he behaves in AC though. Having existing traumas mixed with a terminal illness doesn’t exactly make someone the most vibrant or social person a lot of the time.
