be warned that the online cosplay photo side of cosplay is worse than going to cons, sometimes. nowadays, I mean. things have changed A LOT. between instagram filters, tiktok videos, and the ever-present non-cosplayers ready to roll in and ""critique"", it's cutthroat. The pressure to perform and have perfect photographic/video output and get enough followers/clicks/likes is apparently pretty rough on people who weren't expecting it. I did a panel earlier this year about loving yourself and your cosplay and had a section on social media...I got a lot of good feedback from people that they really needed to hear a cosplay guest basically give them permission to curate their space to save their mental health.

not to discourage, if you really like how you look in your costumes, have ideas for posing and framing, and can get good quality photos you're proud of. just be aware that depending on where you post it, you might have a worse socially-phobic time than you'd expect. I don't even know where's the best to post them anymore, I don't have a twitter or insta and I left cosplay.com.

AYRT - Thanks! Yeah, but it's not different when it comes to cons? At least where I live, the environment is super competitive, and I started feeling really miserable when I realized that. My cosplays (often of obscure characters too) are poorly sewn because my eye-hand coordination is crap, and I ain't rich either but I like to do it for fun really.

On the internet I feel like having people laugh at me or even not noticing me is less of an issue. I am better at photo editing than sewing anyway, and if I don't like someone I can just block them unlike at a con IRL where I just have to put up with "lololol look at her" for 1 hour on a queue or have photographers not take pictures of me because they don't know the character or have gripes with me (because I publicly complained about the fact that they never posted their pictures of this one con or even gave an excuse for that) - at least on the internet SOMEONE will recognize it and be very glad that at least a person cosplayed their fave.

Their concerns are valid but I feel like that's big fish concerns. Like I am not hoping to become this huge cosplay influencer lol, just put my passions out there and not let my wardrobe go to waste I guess. Or my instagram account which has exactly 0 pictures. (...as for Twitter I don't think you should be concerned at this point. And Cosplay.com kinda ended after the revamp so CURE/WorldCosplay is the go-to website I guess, and there are some apps I haven't tried out yet. Hmm... sometimes I share stuff on Tumblr, but idk if I would like to share my cosplay pictures alongside fanart lol probably not) Anyway, maybe it's just that I haven't been doing it but I fail to see how posting online would be worse, my concern is really only having locals find me I suppose.
