Agreed. I love FFVII the most out of all FF games, but I think Sephiroth is overrated as a villain. FF has so much better villains to offer than him imo.

I think one of the main problems with Sephiroth for me was how most of what you actually encountered in the game outside of the flashback scenes wasn't really him.

I can actually appreciate a good face-heel-turn character but I feel like there was much more potential to Sephiroth that was never really tapped into.

Also... I have the same issue with him as I have with Darth Vader- his clothing/costume design is too silly for me to take him seriously.

(And his theme song is dumb. There, I said it. Sorry not sorry.)

I completely agree with this, I feel like you articulated exactly why Sephiroth doesn’t work for me either!

I do like One-Winged Angel, though. But I do get that not everyone will and I understand.

I liked original flavor Sephiroth. How Cloud has this whole "mortal enemies" thing in his head and Sephiroth is like "whomst the fuck are you." Anything post OG is wack though. I think Rufus is a more interesting and dynamic antagonist that Sephiroth these days.

My fave villains from the series are Kuja and Caius.
