OP - Yeah, I do love emotional H/C in general, too. IDK, I guess the reason this is a secret is because there seems to be kind of an assumed belief that this kind of romantic dependency narrative mainly appeals to young, impressionable readers who are melodramatic and immature and therefore enjoy melodramatic, immature storytelling.

Meanwhile, my thirty-five-year-old self enjoys romantic dependency narratives more now than I did as a teen. I like characters who are capable of being mature, sensible adults in most ways, but when it comes to how they feel about each other? emotional moderation is the last thing I want.
