I definitely don't think the male leads are girly. I do think the ones I've seen are a little like Jane Austen heroes and less like the super-dominant alpha male "bad boy" types that show up a lot in het romance novels. But I like that because of the relationship dynamics, not because I think it's girly or feminine.

I think another part of it is just that they are big on slow burn - 16 episodes is that usual length which gives them a lot of time for that - and often humor. Also no sex scenes like there are all over the place in American shows and those get so boring and repetitive.

Agreed on not explicit + slow burn plot.

There's a meme going around about Asian beauty standards VS the Western one though with Sephiroth (an Asian long hair male character) fitting the bill of a beautiful Western female character.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what does a 3D video game character from Japan have to do with actual real human Kdrama actors? I don't see how they can be compared to one another.
