Weird music you like
Inspired by my love of Twilight Force and Gloryhammer. Currently listening to both on Youtube.
Re: Weird music you like
And even though I'm not into Harry Potter anymore, still love Wrock, especially Ministry of Magic and Catchlove.
Miracle of Sound makes great fan songs as well.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-27 08:02 am (UTC)(link)Aw, that's cool :). Yeah, I think "Weird Science" has probably popped up in quite a few things, so it'd be very easy for even the most casual listener to hear that song. My dad actually helped get me into Oingo Boingo - he used to play their song "Goodbye, Goodbye" a lot around the house, and I also remember hearing "Weird Science" a lot as a kid 'cause it used to be on some cassette tape of '80s songs I Liked to listen to. Then somehow I wound up going down the rabbit hole and next thing you know, boom, fandom. And then when I found out that Danny Elfman was involved in so many TV shows and movies I liked as a kid as well, that just added to my interest :D.
But yeah, always great to meet other fans, and I'm so glad you've discovered them as you have. I sympathize on the merchandise issue, but hopefully you'll manage to find some cool stuff somewhere at some point :).

For myself I love Die Ärzte which is not unusual in Germany but it's hard to find anyone who's heard of them in the States. Also I dress very conservatively and I'm 55 years old so when I tell people I love a German rock band and went to Germany to see them and I have a tattoo they think it's pretty weird.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-27 04:28 am (UTC)(link)-Fan songs: being into online fandoms since 2005 means I have a few mp3 files that have accumilated over the years since then - starting with Yu-Gi-Oh! abridged parody songs like 'Leather Pants' and Elizabeth Smarts Supernatural songs like 'All For You' and 'Blue Bird'.
Then the 2010s kicked off with a fuckton of Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale fan songs in addition to gamer mashup/remix songs like Markiplier 'Dooly Doo' and 'Where's Mama'. Now that I'm writing this I just remembered that I use to listen to a LOT of Pogo's remixes of movies/shows - especially liked the Lord of the Rings, TNG Star Trek and Snow White ones. The most recent was listening to someone's musical version of Who Killed Markiplier using a Vocaloid program.
-Nightcore cover of songs: definitely scratched an itch in my brain during the 2010s (especially for Kesha songs that would either sound best sped up like for 'We R Who We R' or her own acoustic versions for songs like 'Die Young').
-So much Jpop and Jrock music thanks to early 2000s weeb me lol. Utada Hikaru and Kokia are particular favorites in addition to Suga Shikao and recently discovering Queen Bee (been listening to the song 'Baishun' on a loop for a couple of days). But I probably leans more to the Rock/metal side with bands like X Japan, MUCC, Babymetal, Maximum the Hormone, The Gazette, Buck-Tick, Band-Maid and TK.
