Yeah it's the "equally valid" thing. Like, no some people's opinions are not valid at all. To the point that it's not worth giving people a little room to consider their valid (but extremely misguided) opinions.
I want to give people the patience and room to hear their thoughts out, but I've come to find that when I tell someone "Yes, I see what you are saying, but..." all they take in is that I am agreeing with them. They drop any further musings or insight that pokes holes in their logic and if it's a complicated/complex subject in which it will take more nuance and thought beyond an agree or disagree they either shut down the conservation or talk until they feel their point has won the conversation.

And it's like, you know, I get we need to talk back and forth to get things going but I'm fucking exhausted. I feel like there's no reciprocal listening and engaging in good faith.

Everyone just wants to be right. They don't really want the world to be more accepting and tolerant. They just want shit to go their way because we have little to no control in our lives. So we go hard on our stupid opinions.

Like, so many people I refuse to talk about CSA or DA with. Subjects I feel need to be discussed to break down barriers and chains of abuse but everyone's got a dumb fucking opinion on them so no thanks. Go off about how all pedophiles need to be murdered as you call a 16yo a slut for wearing cutoff shorts.
