xD No no, I know what you mean. I really don't understand why so many of the fantwits have decided to make this place so wanky. It's been getting progressively worse. It's like, if someone posts a secret saying 'I think that it's ok that the Comedian is a heman woman-hater', they're not saying it to piss you off (ok, probably not), they're saying it because it's a SECRET.

And people post SECRETS here because they can't say it anywhere, because of the HATE they will get for it. So apparently, when they make that SECRET, they'll get just as much HATE for it. And even if you might have the reassurance knowing that no one knows it's you, you still know that all of that hate was specifically directed at you.

This fanwank and stupidity is taking away the appeal of what fandomsecrets was for me. I understand how you feel completely. :( <3

It would be so nice to be able to use this community the way it was intended, and get a secret off my chest without a bunch of bitchy internet elitists who have appointed themselves the morality police jumping in to either attack my sanity/validity/morals, or to call me a troll who made up a fake secret just because it was one they didn't like. It amuses me to no end when people think that if someone voices an opinion that deviates from theirs or that paints them in a negative light in any way, then that person is obviously just trolling. Because they are teh awesome, of course, and no legitimate person could ever not agree with or like them. Ugh.

SO MUCH YES. Someone posted a secret a while ago that I agreed with and then people in the comments flamed me (and the OP) for responding to/being a troll secret. How are you even sposed to know that, anyway? They're all out there a bit, hence them being secrets! It's very annoying. I've mostly given up commenting here.

To be fair though, you don't have to check the comments for secrets you submit, so any hate that is/could be there, you don't have to see in your inbox or on your computer screen.
(I mean, I check comments to my secrets like a crack whore shooting up, but that's not the point.)

It's really dumb isn't it? I hate how there's so many people here purely to pick arguments and tell people how they're WRONG. Need to grow that e-penis somehow.. And just to be generally nasty. Wank can be fun, but I'd rather have a place where I can broadcast something I feel weirdly about, or make some connections with like-minded people x.x

Yes. There are some people here (and I could call several of them by name) who only hang out so they can comment on the wrongness of people. I've seen most of their pictures, so I will assume it's because they are unable to have lives outside of the internets, and must resort to using fandom as a way of gaining some sense of popularity and authority.

You have to grow a thick skin when you reveal things about yourself on the internet. It's a bit more impersonal, so people feel free to say whatever they want. It's just sorta how it is.

I AGREE. It's always driven me crazy. And I'm sure it's because it's an anonymous thing, and people know they can make snide comments without the OP defending themselves too much, because they want to stay anon. It's bitchy and cowardly and I hate it.

I only come here for the occasional wank. If it weren't for the arguments flaring up every now and then providing the entertainment, this place would be pages and pages of IAWTC every day. Dullsville.

I remember posting one that I kind of hoped to get some advice on, (this was quite awhile ago) because it was something that really did make me sad, but everyone was like grow up, you're lying, clearly you're full of shit, blah blah blah.
Made me kind of sad and turned me away a little. I didn't look at FS again for a few weeks as a result. I keep coming back now though. Maybe it's cause I haven't submitted a secret for awhile.

But some secrets, it's kind of funny to see the wank that evolves around them, but that's mostly when the OP was bitching about something. Or clearly being full of hate. Then again, a lot of those times I think they the OP is just trying to start something.

I totally get what you're saying.

The other day I saw someone tell a poster that their somewhat awkward wording in the secret itself completely negated their opinion. It's nastiness just for the sake of being nasty. Sometimes I think people come on the internet spoiling for a fight after they've had a particularly bad day, and they jump on the first thing they see.

Why is it hateful when other people are critical but it's perfectly fine for you to judge people just the same way? And if you can't handle criticism, then just don't read the comments, it's that simple. If you're going to post an unpopular opinion, it's only natural for people to disagree, and anonymity on the internet is never all rainbows and sugarplums.

Yeah, people can be unnecessarily harsh here. Sometimes commentors don't realize that people may be ashamed of their secret and are troubled by it. Not everyone is just trying to start drama. They feel a certain way, and can't help it. Are we going to punish people for how they feel on a deep psychological level? It's not always rational, or pleasant.
(Of course, this is not about those secrets which are brash and purposely wanky. Like a big middle finger to everyone.)

Still, I've been surprised when people here went berserk over such little things.

Hi, I'm Anonymous, and I just can't figure out why random Internet strangers aren't constantly validating me. Can anybody supply some advice for this dilemma?

As an OP for a few secrets that have caused wank, sometimes it's fun to watch the wank go down because of your opinions without having to worry about the wank being traced back to your journal. Sure some people might see it as cowardly or whatever, but really. Now I'm in this place for the sheer entertainment factor.
