Possibly risky fic question

(Anonymous) 2022-12-06 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
The fiction in question is an incest pairing, but it's a sex pollen set up and explores the messy fall-out for everyone without belabouring the point. There's no moral handwringing, but it's never portrayed as a good thing.

The fandom is dead.

Basically my question is this - how much flack am I going to get if I post this thing on Ao3? Are there crazies who will go at you even if not their fandom?

Your mileage may vary, but so far I've never had people come at me on the AO3 in fandoms that aren't active.

I have a bunch of large age gap pairing fic on AO3 and nobody has ever said a thing. Granted it’s old fic, but if your fandom is dead I doubt you’ll have a problem. Incest fic gets posted there regularly I believe.

Little to zero chance. You'll be fine assuming you aren't also posting under the same username in a very popular fandom or advertising your fic outside of AO3 but even then your chances are slim for becoming a target.

Probably nothing will really happen. From my experience, people aren't that uppity about incest in fic so long as it's tagged properly.

I've read nothing but incest on AO3 in the last few months. All portrayed as loving, consensual, sexy.

Sure, step into my brainrot! So I was watching HOTD and very close to dropping it until about 2/3 of the way in, and then somehow I became obsessed with Alicent's children, Greencest, and especially Helaemond. I've read the entire tag on AO3 and I would say most of the fics are bad lmao but I liked these authors:

https://archiveofourown.org/users/charmtion/pseuds/charmtion
https://archiveofourown.org/users/kinderhook/pseuds/MissAtomicBomb
https://archiveofourown.org/users/vmintie/pseuds/scalyfreaks

And also this fic in particular: https://archiveofourown.org/works/42615648

Prior to that, I was reading the entirety of Roycest offerings in the Succession tag. I'd say most of those stories are pretty well-written, though not very loving.
