I agree. And I personally listen to Christmas music on my ipod all year round. But that's for me. It shouldn't be forced on everyone. Although I'd say after Thanksgiving it is reasonable to start it.

After Thanksgiving, I'm resigned to it.

Aw. I'm sorry. I love it. I also love Halloween music. And New Years music. Just love music really.

I'm glad you enjoy it at least!

What new years songs are there besides Auld Lang Syne?

Don't know. The music they play during firework shows I guess.

What, you've never heard of Kiss Me at Midnight by 'N Sync?

If not, that's okay, I don't think many people have, it's a cute song, though.

Also:
several songs named 'New Year's Day' (U2, Taylor Swift, etc.)
1999 by Prince
New Year’s Resolution by Otis Redding and Carla Thomas
Happy New Year by Abba
It's Just Another New Year's Eve by Barry Manilow
What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? by Ella Fitzgerald
Let's Start the New Year Right by Bing Crosby
Bringing in a Brand New Year by B.B. King
My Dear Acquaintance (A Happy New Year) by Regina Spektor
This Will Be Our Year by the Zombies
11:59 It's January by Scrawl
The New Year by Death Cab for Cutie
and New York, New York has sort of become a New Year's anthem

Point taken overall but the U2 song is not exactly a festive hopeful holiday song, is it? And same with the Death Cab one

ayrt

Does it have to be? Auld Lang Syne isn't exactly peppy. There are some solemn and/or sad Christmas songs, but they still count as Christmas songs.

I'm a huge fan of A Long December by the Counting Crows on New Years Eve. All through December, really, but culminating in NYE. The Counting Crows also do Holiday In Spain which is explicitly set on New Years Day. It's pretty glum though, just as a warning. I mean, A Long December is melancholy for sure, but in a complex way that isn't without hopefulness. Holiday In Spain is more just straight depressive.

Empty Hearts by Josh Ritter is another one I listen to on NYE. Again melancholy, but not totally hopeless.

This Year by the Mountain Goats has become my new years Eve anthem
