For the better, for the worse, for the different, little or big.

This one let's play video about an arthouse game that I otherwise would've written off as pretentious. Now, I consider myself an artist and someone who loves to analyze art deeply.

I didn't grasp just how formative Tetsuya Mizuguchi was on my psyche until recently.

...Pretty much everything that has ever happened in my life has changed me in some way honestly.

The most drastic (and devastating) change would be that I happened to catch a stomach virus back in 2011 and it set off a cascading failure of my entire GI tract just like what happened several years before, and 11 years later it just keeps getting worse and worse.

Going on an international trip by myself. I got lost a lot, but I had a wonderful time and I met some lovely people. I came back home feeling less timid and unsure.

+1. Best thing I ever did, and I did it again and will likely do it once or twice more too.

Finding my favorite band, Die Ärzte. They got me through some very hard times, and still are doing so. Also got me to start learning German and travel to Europe to see them live. So yeah, thanks guys.

My mother and sister running off when I was 15, never heard from the mother again. Absolute worst period of my my life (and my dad's) but did kind of solidify the rest of us as a family and we're ultimately better off.

For the worse, anorexia nervosa made me have a bad psychotic breakdown (though some studies argue that some people develop AN as a means of slowing down their brains to avoid one) and that was NOT fun and not something I will ever fully recover from.

For the better... there were times when I put an absurd effort onto something and I owe my past self a thanks because due to those times I am not in utter misery by now.

Nearly dying changed me from being a selfish jerk into somebody who at least tries to be a good person. Then having kids also changed me personally for the better in many ways.

Getting prescribed Modafinil a year and a half ago enabled me to manage my severe circadian rhythm disorder and shift my sleep schedule from 6AM–2PM to 1AM–9AM, and just generally feel less like roadkill all the time.

Food Network

I was a bored teen in a neglectful household. When Food Network became available on cable where I lived, I took a liking to watching stuff about food.

After so much, Rachael Ray and Alton Brown had convinced me cooking maybe isn't that daunting.

Really took a liking to cooking and baking.

Discovered that I can learn, I can create, learned how to problem solve better, learned how to break down tasks, learned that mistakes happen. Boy, did I learn a lot about myself making mistakes in cooking and baking.

I don't simp over Food Network and their stars (anymore), I don't cook or bake as much as I used to. I think at best I'm an OK cook and baker. Not as into cooking and food as much as I used to be.

But I can say, access to Food Network and the shows and personalities they provided changed my life in huge ways.

Being challenged to do better while being given a lot of facts and tips and tricks. Knowing that what we do and what we eat has a story to tell. And learning problem solving skills.

There was a damn near instanteneous change in my personality after I got into a crash in 2014 (while I was in a postal truck, no less!). I suspect that crash also permanently distorted my balance, and it worsened the effects of tragedies that have occurred since then.

Learning English to read fanfictions and then Japanese to read doujinshi.
Fandom has literally saved my life many times and I wouldn't be here if I didn't have this burning passion for learning languages and reading porn ahahah

Being bullied in school. It was never physical and I still had friends, but I think it still affects me to this day. I rebuilt my confidence after I got to high school, but sometimes I think I missed some pieces, or put them back the wrong way.
