Can you help me out with an example or two? I’m not sure I’ve run into this particular fan wank theory.

Idk if this was one of the examples OP is thinking of, but it happens pretty often in the My Hero Academia fandom with some heroes. It also happens in the MCU fandom, especially in that cursed period shortly after Civil War. And all that is based on the already existing fan wank from the comics side of the fandom. DC fans sometimes get into this with their fandom too. I’ve also seen it happen a lot forever ago in the Megaman fandom, especially the Megaman X series specific side.

Really? You haven't seen Star Wars "fans" wanking about how the Jedi are really evil, or from Trek where the Federation is supposedly a communist dystopia? Those are two high profile fandoms just off the top of my head, which have that. Plus all the Lex Luthor was right shit from the Superman fandoms.

Wow! What an asshole response to someone who volunteers to make secrets for other people. If I were them, I’d just skip this one.

First, I don’t know if the anon they were replying to is for sure the potential secret maker. They definitely could be, and could have asked so they could have a relevant image to use. But it could also just be another anon who was curious. And we also don’t know for sure if the AYRT is the secret OP. Again, they could be. But I wouldn’t suggest that the possible secret maker should skip this secret until we know for sure.

It was a rather rude and condescending response, I’ll definitely agree to that. I don’t know why they couldn’t have just listed some fandoms they’ve seen do this without being disrespectful. That’s what I did in my response above theirs, because it was a simple and understandable question to ask, and I had some examples even though I don’t know if they were great or useful.

I wasn't the ayrt, but I also didn't have any examples spring to mind right away. Not all of us move in the same fandom spaces and we're not all privy to Star Wars wank or Star Trek wank or Superman wank. That's why I encourage people to include the fandom/character names when they submit a secret because there's an excellent chance I genuinely, sincerely won't know what they're talking about.
