there are so many criticisms you could make over character adaptation in HOTD. so, so many. but alicent not being a schemer is not one of them. the most she does in the book that isn't completely attributed to otto and for which she isn't grouped in with otto is malicious court gossip. that's it! even youtubers I love are pretending this is the case. i understand wanting her to have more agency. I can't understand pretending she had more in the book.
