Supernatural and Sherlock weren't necessarily good, but I thought both shows were fairly entertaining. Having shippable characters just made them extra entertaining.

Oh, this is a nice way to sum it up. I was in Dresden Files fandom for some time, and my gods this books are badly written. But they are entertaining. Shipping was a nice bonus to all the zombie dinosaurs

That's an interesting example because I gave up on the books but maybe if I had shipped him with someone I wouldn't have.

Well, I did gave up in the end. But frankly speaking fanfiction was (or is I dunno) much better written.
