Questions

Two for the price of one!

First one is fandom related: has anyone ordered through a Group Order before? I ordered some stuff on 12/5, the form was closed on 12/12. The GO organizer said on their twitter that they would be emailing the people that ordered through them soon, but I haven't received such an email. When I placed the order, it was through Google Forms so I have that notification. The GO specified to send payment by X date which I fulfilled. But should I be concerned about a lack of email notification from them? Should I just contact them directly?

Second question non fandom related: I live by myself, and as such I keep the heating temperature really low to save money. During the day it's at 65 F and at night 62 (bless heating blankets and weighted blankets too). My brother is coming for Christmas, and I know I need to raise the temp just not sure to what is a good compromise. 68 during the day and 65 at night?

1- Yes! If it's been almost a week, it's probably safe to contact them. Sometimes for one reason or the other the email didn't go through. Of course, if you know someone else in the GO it's probably good to ask them too. And it's always goood to know more people in the GO in order to avoid being scammed and so on.

Can't help with 2 (cries in summer).

Thank you so much! I'll contact them today.

Bah summer. It's easier to bundle up to stay warm rather than try to stay cool!

Re: your second question, I tend to run cold and at the moment I have my heating set at 19C (about 66F) during the day, boosted up to 20C (about 68F) for an hour in the morning and half an hour mid-afternoon. Then early evening I have the thermostat set to 16C (about 61F), so the temperature gradually drops throughout the evening. My house holds heat pretty well though, so once it's warmed up it stays warm for a while.

Oh that's nice! My house is pretty good too, I just don't think my brother will like the 65 degree temp! Ha. It's only for a few days, I can adjust it higher for him.

For house temp, 68 in the daytime is probably a good starting point for his visit and drop it to 65 at night. Then you can bump it if he needs. But don’t be afraid to suggest he put on a sweater! And if you guys are going to be out for long stretches, drop it two degrees before you go. Dropping it more than that will likely make your furnace run a lot more often and actually raise your heating bill.
Some thermostats have blocks of time beyond night and day which is nice for managing it if you know you’re going out for the day but want to return to a warm home.
I also suggest hot drinks: coffee, tea, cider, spiced wine, and cocoa are all great for warming up! And if you have a fireplace definitely use that when you guys are home and let your furnace rest :)
