I'm a fanartist myself, actually. I don't and never will sell my fanart because I believe it's wrong to be profiting off someone else's intellectual property. That's why I don't see how you can get mad at one thing but say the other is a-OK. Either it's okay to use someone else's intellectual property to make money or it isn't.
