Oh god, this. I hate it when authors do that.

It also feels like they’re overhyping how well they wrote the suffering and sadness when they say they cried while writing it. I cry when I imagine scenarios sometimes, but I would never say that in an author’s note. And it doesn’t happen while writing, just brainstorming. Because the triggering stuff I write is a coping mechanism, not a brag at how good I am at making other people sad. People who write that in author’s notes may have cried for similar reasons as me, not bragging, but it’s still so unnecessary to say to readers.
