Same, I err on the side of over-warning, sometimes a little too much. But some friends in my fandom group have squicks that seem more like features than bugs to me, so I want everyone to know going into the story if they're going to like it or want to back button.

Similarly to what you said, there's an author in the fandom who doesn't always tag or warn for their fairly niche kink when it is discussed but doesn't appear "on screen," and I wish they would.
