AYRT’s point is still valid, even if they could just exclude crossovers.

Here’s a hypothetical scenario based on my experience to explain what I mean: Sometimes you’re trying to read fic in a small fandom, or a rarepair, and you want to take what you can get considering the amount of fic you see is barely in the double digits. So after you choose your language, and exclude squicks and/or triggers you can’t make yourself read, you’re left with barely anything. Basically the only things left are a few of the actual fic you’re looking for, if you’re lucky, and these crossovers. You know if you exclude crossovers, you might be left with nothing, or next to nothing. So you force yourself to read them just because you want to read everything for your niche fandom or ship. That would be enough to be frustrated at the amount of fic that are crossovers, but are actually just oneshot collections that list a shit-ton of different fandoms. Just the fandom list for these fics takes up so much space on the page. And it’s just frustrating as well, because these people could just write these oneshots as separate works instead of lumping them all together in one fic with each fandom making up the “chapters” in it, and have it show up as a “crossover”. Because there’s nothing wrong with oneshots on their own, or actual crossovers, as AYRT said.
