Thank you for the video! Already just by reading the youtube comments written by fellow POC, I feel a lot better seeing that other expressed the feeling that Wes Anderson most definitely wasn't talking to anyone in my demographic. Or as this excerpt from a good youtube comment said "As a black teenager who'd grown up in predominantly white suburbs, The Royal Tenenbaums made it clear to me that Wes Anderson wasn't talking to me and likely wouldn't have anything interesting to say even if he was."

I still haven't watched the youtube video itself yet (sorry, ADHD. Have to get in The Zone for it), but it seems like others in the youtube comments have still have some interest in watching Wes Anderson films. Maybe I'll eventually try another one of his films, as I was interested in Isle of Dogs. I was just so surprised to see how hard I bounced off my very first attempt lol. My mom didn't like the movie either.

Thank you once again for the video recommendation! By the other comments here not really getting what bothered me about this film, I'm grateful to find some confirmation with my feelings and can see it wasn't a neurotypical/autism divide but instead something else.

I'm glad the comments in the video helped you!

tbh, I probably wouldn't look Anderson for anything that considers the POC perspective. that simply isn't what he's doing. but I do think Grand Budapest Hotel is probably his least annoying film in that regard.

and yeah, as someone with who is neurodivergent who liked fantastic mr fox: i do think some characters just annoy you even when you get what the creator is doing and that's ok.
