I really like this secret. I've been in a similar boat and yeah, it's just really nice to get new fics for a rare pair regardless of an author's intent behind it.

Maybe I'm missing context because that's the nature of F!S, but it seems presumptuous and self-important to assume that an author writing a long fic that is markedly different to yours is doing so purely to be petty and passive-aggressive towards you specifically, rather than because they just want to see more slice of life fic in the fandom and decided to write it for themselves...

Lol I had the same thought. Maybe the other author even liked OP's fic but just wanted something different and marketed it accordingly (i.e. if you want villains, this ain't the fic, you know where to go). Maybe OP's fic inspired them (and not in an annoyed way -- I can tell you the fics that have inspired me because all i could think was I like this, BUT if I was to do it/this is my take on this plot idea etc. Etc. Nothing to do with being petty.).

On that note, thinking that the other author wrote this as a passive aggressive response to OP makes me lol and not think that OP is an egomaniacal asshole, just a little too up their own backend, lol. It's also fandom, so people can get completely buckwild, so who knows. But I feel like it's the former/what you're talking about anon.

Yeah the "no villain nonsense" sounds like a jokey way of saying 'booooo the villain's mean to my faves, this is a cute fic' rather than a criticism of people who include the villain & that type of conflict in their fic!
