People who call men she or girl or whatever piss me off. It's almost exclusively with gay men, and it just comes across as homophobic bullshit. I also haaaaaaate the trend of calling grown ass men "babygirl". UGGGGGHHHHH.

I also come across it allll the time (mostly on Reddit, but sometimes on here) when someone will explicitly mention using male or female pronouns, and then there will be comments saying "they", and people never call them out on it. Why is that okay?

DON'T USE PRONOUNS FOR PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVEN'T TOLD YOU TO. KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF.

GRRRRRRR.

The men who are "babygirl" are very rarely gay, except sometimes in certain people's headcanons. A babygirl is a scruffy man roughly between the ages of 30 and 60. Not the type that tends to be canonically written as gay.

I'm not sure whether the characters the other commenter is talking about are gay or not, but the only characters I've ever seen called that are gay/bi (although to be fair I've only seen two characters called that because I'm really only into one fandom right now lol).

I've seen it for every Marvel character who fits the criteria listed by AYRT and some who don't, and every incarnation of the Doctor. And every guy from the recent Top Gun movie, but I don't know that fandom as well but I doubt any of them are officially gay or bi. It just doesn't seem like that kind of movie.

Go into any fandom. The most popular male character is 99% the baby girl. Obviously most of them are depicted as straight and not even all of them are gay/bi in headcanon.

Come on, you’re better than this.

I feel like this is conflating two completely different things
