I don't think it makes you horrible, the ending of Yuugiou made it so that you could be open for anything.
I'm also a sucker for a good angst story, better then happy 24/7 things D:

Only reason I ever wanted Yami to stay was just because I wanted a really nice friendshippy ending. Oh, and I'm a puzzleshipper. :/ I've never wanted puzzleshipping to be canon actually.

From one Puzzleshipper to another, I just have to say that I totally agree with you. Sometimes there are just things that are more important than any shipping, and this ending was one of them. It had to end that way, or else it would have been a total cop-out. I mean, never mind the fact that it's a shounen series, I'd say the same thing if it were a BL series with the same setup. It's a bittersweet ending, but it had to end that way.

You're not a horrible shipper. :D I'd hate it if any of my ships got in the way of the storyline. (If my Darkshipping desires were to come to fruition, there'd be no show at all! XD)

I never really thought of it that way, but now that I do, I completly agree.

Also I'm still not over the ending, and that was like what 8-9 years ago when the last episode was released in Japan? ):

Like everyone else has said, you're not a horrible shipper. In fact, I think this makes you a BETTER shipper, because you're allowing for something reasonable to happen instead of expecting canon to bend to the will of your ship.

(My secret: The ONLY reason I don't like Puzzleshipping is because they're in the same body, so it'd be kind of awkward. XD "Which hand should I use this time?" "Go for the left, we rely on the right too much." "'Kay." Not that the fics are like that! I realize most of them have it so that they're in separate bodies. That's just how I've always thought of it. xD;;; If they didn't inhabit the same body, I'd ship it as much as I ship the -GASPFORBIDDEN- Yuugi/Anzu.)

But yeah, like I said, I think it makes you a better shipper. =)

((Also, when it comes to fandom and characters and whatnot, I have more schadenfreude than Dark Marik.))

Your 'example' for what Puzzleshipping would realistically be made me lol pretty hard. IT'S TRUUUUUUUU. (I don't 'ship' this pairing for the sex, though, so...)

And I actually think Yuugi/ Anzu is cute, in this way: I think they'd have a cute little relationship, but I don't think they'd ever work out as a lasting couple. I love Anzu though, and her and Yuugi as crushes-turn-eventual-'just-friends'.

I agree with you as well, OP. I think it's the depressing ending that really makes it for me, honestly.

See, I don't even think the ending was all that depressing. For Atem, yes. (*but even then, he got to see his OTHER friends! So still... kind of not all that depressing.) Even though Yuugi lost a great friend, he gained so much... and YGO is all about how "YOUR LOVED ONES LIVE ON IN YOUR MEMORIES... FOREVER!" so even though it's sad... it's still so UPLIFTING! (Bittersweet is apparently my favorite flavor.)

I'm a puzzleshipper and I wouldn't change the ending to YGO for the world.

And I agree that they 'weren't ready for each other', but... that's because, of course not! Since the series was about Yuugi maturing, there wasn't much in the way of 'romantic' development between the two, especially since the couple "isn't" canon anyway. IDK... I 'ship' Atem/ Yuugi but of course I didn't expect them to EXPRESS THEIR TRU LUV for each other in the show or kiss or anything. Ew. And I think most people who like these two as a 'couple' feel the same.

Anyway, don't feel bad! WE'RE ALL MAD HERE!
