Umm...you do realize that for every man who has that view of women, there are probably two (or more) women who have a similarly biased opinion of all men? I mean, I'm a feminist, but come on - a woman is allowed to say men are scum, but a man can't say anything bad about women?

And some people think that women who have a negative, stereotypical view of all men are also prejudiced morons--not to mention that I really don't think that view is that common outside of the stereotype of man-hating feminist.

Yes, they are indeed prejudiced morons. But I, personally, have heard women say things like that, and I, personally, know women who refuse to get married and/or have children. So the question remains: if a woman can say things like that, why can't a man? Feminism isn't about superiority, it's about equality, and when it comes to me, any man can say anything about women in general or myself in particular, because I can take it, and I can dish it out just as well as they can!

"A woman" can't really say things like that unironically (at least if she wants a successful tv show like Maher), and most females don't feel like "dishing" out misandry like we are in a constant war of the sexes.

What he says about women is objectively wrong and ignorant (and what he says about men is equally wrong--like saying they are less fit as parents, to give one example)--and that's only the tip of the iceberg of the wrong stuff he says. We aren't talking about his opinions, which can also be pretty reprehensible--factually, he is wrong when it comes to women and men. End of story, and if your "feminism" means you can't accept that, then fuck it. Truth comes first.

That makes no sense. She never said it was ok for a woman to call a man scum, she just criticized Bill Maher for being a sexist, clueless, motherfucking dumbass. Which he is. And if he were a woman saying all men want to snag a woman to reproduce with, then he would still be a sexist dumbass.

And if you honestly suggest that there are 2 women prejudiced against men for every man prejudiced against women....well. lollllllllllll

Hey, she can say whatever she wants. But he has a right to say what he wants too, and what he does (or talks about) in regards to his personal life doesn't make him sexist. I would say he's sexist if he, I dunno, implied women were incompetent, had a history of picking on female guests on his show (or just didn't have any!), etc., but I've never heard him do anything like that. Labeling him a sexist because of how he'd rather just sleep with women than marry one is unfair.

And if you honestly think that's what I said, you need glasses. There will always be more men prejudiced against women than their are women prejudiced against men, because society has, in the grand scheme of things, only very recently come to understand that men and women are equal, and there are plenty of people with whom that still doesn't quite sit well. But I think that gives even more women, especially those who saw their mothers, grandmothers, etc. lead lives that kept them one step behind even more of a reason to want to do things on their own, and there's nothing wrong with that. Hell, I'm starting to think we should just abolish marriage altogether, since apparently only some of us are entitled to it.

But I digress. I love Bill Maher - I've watched him since long before I was even old enough to vote. But even if I didn't, I'd still think there were bigger windmills to go after, like those who actually want to deny people their rights. Worry about them, not some playboy bachelor with a big mouth.

I don't give a shit if he wants to get married or not: I don't particularly want to get married either. He does seem to believe that all women want to get married, that all women are inherently better parents and should be the dominant parents, that women want to control men, that society is biased against men, etc. This is wrong. HTH.

I don't "worry" about Bill Maher, but he is an imperialist, a misogynist, and a retard, and he doesn't deserve much in the way of respect. He most certainly does want to take away the rights of people, but as those people are brown you may have missed it. I don't worry about him because most people recognize him as a dumbass, but--that doesn't make him any less of a dumbass, you know?
