And that’s literally not contradicting anything I said. Nice try, but read a comment next time before throwing out an irrelevant attempt at a “gotcha”.

I said that there were still innocent people in Ukraine, LGBTQ+ included, and that being invaded by a just-as-bigoted country is just as bad if not worse than how they were already living. I never said Ukraine was pro-LGBT, I literally said the opposite. I said that you’re not helping the LGBTQ+ people that live there at all by basically saying “both countries are bigoted against LGBT people, so I don’t care about the invasion”. I’m the one that said there were still LGBT people in Ukraine that are in serious danger, as people left in invaded countries always are, and are in danger of being tortured or killed. I never said they all got out, which would be the only way your random, sad attempt at a gotcha would contradict me. I said the governments are the real danger to LGBTQ+ people that live there, not that Ukraine’s government was pro-LGBTQ+. People who aren’t affiliated with the government can still be dangerous bigots, obviously. But the biggest danger LGBTQ+ people all over the world face is government oppression and government sanctioned violence against them. And both Ukraine and Russia are guilty of that, and I’ve said no different. But adding being trapped when an invading force comes in could be a death sentence for those people. So your apathetic reactions to Ukrainians and people showing compassion towards Ukraine isn’t helping anyone. Including LGBTQ+ people, Ukrainian included. You’ve implied, purposely or not, that you’re fine with them being in danger because of something they can’t control: their government. The entire population of Ukraine shouldn’t have to suffer because of the actions of their government. And to say otherwise and package it as activism for the LGBTQ+ community and our rights is twisted and entirely hollow. It’s an empty, self-serving sentiment. Like I specifically said, people aren’t defending Ukraine because it was some kind of paradise with a perfect government. They’re defending it because of all the innocent people just living there that have and will get imprisoned, oppressed, and killed in this invasion. LGBTQ+ people not only included, but especially are in danger. The fact that you ignored that is telling that you’re acting in bad faith.
