Join LJ comms, comment on others' work, post your own fic/art/whatever to communities, etc. And as for real life, does your college have sci-fi/anime/general geek clubs?

I can't be there at your college for you, and I'm really sorry about that. If you're just looking for someone to talk to, my AIM is EvilAnimeNerd. I know I'm setting myself up for possible trolling here, but the idea of someone with nobody to talk to makes me too sad to care much. Especially a fellow Zim fan. I'm on at least 4-5 hours a day, if not more, most of the week because I'm at my computer working on comics anyway.

I like friends, and friends who luv Invader ZiM are very cool. So I'm gonna follow annon up there's lead and give you my AIM too. It's SnapdragonSoda. I'm not on a whole lot, especially since it's final's week coming up - but don't be afraid to talk!

Whatever you do, don't get back into the Zim fandom. Unless you're some kind of masochist.

I know you've probably heard this before, but why don't you join some organizations on campus? Do stuff to get yourself out and meet some of your classmates. Maybe you can even find some new fandoms that way.

What size college are you going to? I know at a big State Uni it's almost impossible not met some people that will spend time with you doing geeky stuff. I know I don't have a lot of friends, but that's by choice for the most part. If you're at a small college it's pretty easy to feel alienated and lonely though.

I'm at a private college that's fairly small. Not the smallest school ever, but definitely small when compared to a big state school. For some reason, it's been pretty hard for me to get to know people, but I'm not the greatest at being social to start with :p

I think you'd be happier if you could meet people IRL. Anime groups, gamer groups - they seem impenetrable at first but are often really welcoming when you've had a little time to settle in.

As for fandom - I did that myself, fall out of fandom for a few years then come back. I came back because there was a series I was really into, really believed in and had enough loose ends to have lots of fic potential. So I dived in, posting and commenting, and because I'd managed to bring something to the table, I made some wonderful friends. People like being talked to, getting thoughtful fic or art comments, being friended, etc - it's not hard to get in with people, if there's a fandom where you'd have something to contribute. Find a crack comm, a friending meme, something sociable. It takes a few weeks but you've done it before and can do it again.

Start with a fandom that interests you, OP. If there aren't any, lurk around some of the bigger fandoms (Watchmen, Harry Potter, Dr. Who, etc) and see if the people there make it worth it.
