I thought Sauron was gay for Melkor? Morgoth? The evil guy that came before him.
But hey if people are shipping Sauron/Galadriel, maybe there's something in the show that speaks to them

Sure, but Melkor is gone. And a man has needs. Also, this fandom has always shipped a lot of different things.

I'm just wondering where all the HDU CHEATING IS BAD people are when an eternally married elf is getting shipped with anyone not her husband. I hear rumors that the show is trying to make it like Celeborn is dead?? but he's not and while I personally don't give a shit about cheating, I do actually think it's shitty to just fake like Celeborn is out of the picture in order to make Galadriel shippable. whether that's the intention or not. I'm already mad that being disallowed to actually film the Silmarillion = throwing the entire story out the window and making up a new one whole cloth so...

Feel like anyone who has a problem with ships that involve cheating would have deeper issues with this ship

IE, he is Sauron, the Dark Lord

Hannibal fandom is proof that they could definitely focus on the cheating first.

"Hannigram is bad and wrong because there's an AGE GAP!!!!!! (... Oh ok and maybe also because one is a cannibal serial killer who's gaslighting the other, I guess?)"

I haven't watched the show so I don't really know when this is set, but isn't this before she met Celeborn?

You'd think so, but in one of the very last episodes she tells another character she has a husband named Celeborn (never mentioned before) who went off to battle and didn't come back, presumed dead.

This is hilarious because she's been carrying her brother's dagger around the whole show and being very single-mindedly devoted to avenging his death in battle...but she just kind of lost her husband somewhere and the subject never came up.

AYRT

Ah, okay. That's weird, then!

I vaguely recall that Galadriel met Celeborn after leaving Valinor for Middle Earth (with Celeborn having always lived in Middle Earth only) and thought that Galadriel's move to Middle Earth was part if the show. I'm not deep enough into Tolkein to care if they are just making things up, but mentioning a husband at the last minute does make things confusing wrt shipping (and it also sounds funny, like you said!)
