I see where you're coming from, to Mob Reigen must seem like a Cool Grownup. That kind of idol worship could have tiny PG romantic undertones.

Tho personally I'd enjoy an older Mob looking back at his feelings and being embarrassed because Reigen is such a fuckup con artist. Like that kind of stuff fooled him when he was a kid but now he knows better lol

I mean, I don't ship Mob>Reigen, but my personal reasoning is this:

-Middle schoolers/teenagers having crushes on adults, their teachers or mentor figures? Perfectly normal and healthy.
-Adults, teacher and mentor figures reciprocating the crush or/and having sex with middle schoolers/teenagers? KILL IT WITH FIRE.

I don't care what other ship or don't ship, but I hate student/teachers ships when they're required. If they are unrequired from the student POV I'm OK with it. Especially if it's queer and create frustration and confusion in the student/teen!

It took me forever to realize that "required" was "requited" - I was sitting here debating whether to ask what media you've seen that required student/teacher relationships and how that works LOL
