I feel like far more horror movies end the way you want than the way you hate...

THIS.
I've seen hundreds of horror movies in my life and, sure, recently there are more doom endings than before, but the vast majority still ends with a "happy ending". At least one survivor.
Maybe lately the bad endings get more praise and get more recommended?
