I've been around fandom long enough to get a shiver when I see someone rec a WIP. I just can't. I've seen people demand comments and kudos to keep writing, to write themselves into a corner and then abandon the fic, to find a new fandom and just 'move on', to just lose interest etc etc. And I just expect that if someone is writing without a plan or real plot that it is going to crash and burn.

Sometimes, if a friend recs a fic, and the author says it's finished and they are just pacing the posting I will start reading. But anytime I search for fics on AO3 it's completed only.
